Releases: Stoned 'n' Smoky
Our friends from Native in Singapore were inspired by the flavors of their local markets to come up with a complex drink based on The Plum, I Suppose.
Our friend Joshua Chan and the team from Native in Singapore were inspired by the flavors of their local traditional Chinese markets to create a complex drink based on our Plum Kernel and Marigold spirit The Plum, I Suppose.
Josh wanted to bring “an unpredictable aspect” to the drink. He came up with a smoky sour plum and ginger tea reduction. When paired together, they add waves of complexity to the finish drink. On top of that, both ginger and plums are believed to ward off chronic diseases and have loads of antioxidants and anti inflammatory properties.
Other ingredients include kaffir lime leaves for a lovely citrusy aroma and candlenuts to bring a creamy mouthfeel.
We also used pandan, a plant that is commonly used in asian desserts. The leaves got a strong grassy and sweet flavor reminiscent of almond, vanilla or coconut.
This new pre-bottled collaboration cocktail is named Stoned ‘n’ Smoky; an ode to its main ingredient, the plum. Stoned brings up the kernels distilled for The Plum, I Suppose, while Smoky obviously refers to the smoky sour plums.
Key Ingredients: The Plum, I Suppose, Candlenut, Pandan Leaf, Kaffir Lime Leaf, Smoky Sour Plum, Ginger, Honey, Kombucha.
Tasting Notes: Overall fresh and acidic with a silky mouthfeel. Pandan-coconut flavors reminiscent of dessert. Smoky finish.
Recommended serve: Over ice.
